<image:title>Home - The word “crescat” comes from the Latin word meaning “to grow.”</image:title>
<image:caption>The phrase “vivat, crescat, floreat,” or “to live, to grow, to flourish,” as seen above, has made its way into English speakers’ consciousness (though only in obscure settings, I admit) in the form of old family mottos and obscure academia. I’ll spare you the grammar lesson, but for our intents and purposes, the best translation of the phrase is as a wish or a blessing, something like “May they live, may they grow, may they flourish!” This, of course, is the blessing I extend to you. I am so glad you’re here. I believe that humans have the natural tendency to move toward growth, but there are so many things that get in our way or derail us completely. Many of these obstacles are of our own making. But there is hope. And there is a way, or perhaps many different ways, that you can move forward from where you are. I would love to support you as you figure out how you came to be here and where you want to go next.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Therapy</image:title>
<image:caption>In therapists’ terms, my counseling approach is existential, which means that I work together with you as you confront the hardest parts of existing as a human, and person-centered, which means that our work is guided by your own sense of who you are and where you want to go, with my support along the way. Throughout our time together, I help you build new skills using methods such as CBT and DBT. Both of these methods are geared toward identifying the connections between our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and learning to manage them more comfortably and effectively. With an integrative approach, I hope to support you in realigning your mind, body, and spirit, to become more attuned to yourself and the world around you. I hope to assist you in identifying your own patterns, obstacles, and goals. This is hard work, and it would be an honor for me to walk through it with you. If you’d like more information about these therapeutic methods and others I incorporate into my practice, click the links below: Existential Therapy Person-Centered Therapy Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Dialectical Behavior Therapy Mindfulness-Based Therapy Motivational Interviewing Psychoanalytic Therapy Christian Counseling also available, if requested. <image:title>Meet Amanda</image:title>
<image:caption>I say ‘specialize’ loosely, of course, but I claim it, in light of the great pains I have taken to foster hope throughout my own life, and the steps I take each day to keep it alive. Hope is something that is hard to find these days, and the truth is that there is no single solution to our human condition: each of us must find out where their own source of hope can be found. But we don’t have to be alone along the way; to need support is to be human. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate from the Central Texas area. I have worked primarily with teens and young adults in various settings, as well as with people of all ages in active addiction and those with a history of incarceration. I work with anyone experiencing such symptoms as anxiety, depression, low self-worth, loss of identity or purpose, disconnection in interpersonal relationships, or existential or spiritual angst. I want my clients to feel valuable, to know they are not alone, and to develop a sense of who they are and who they want to be. I am also a human. I’m a language nerd, as you may have noticed. I love to listen to other people and broaden my own worldview. I love to learn from books as well, as long as I can find a way to apply them in real life. I feel most myself on a beach.</image:caption>
